American Craft

When I first moved to Brookline my roommate suggested that we stop at Roadhouse for lunch on that Sunday. Likely because the place that we wanted to go, Publick House, was closed for lunch. Sadly, we never found Roadhouse, but it turns out that it wasn't the greatest, so we weren't really missing out.

It's new replacement, American Craft, isn't a place to miss though.

From the owners of Publick House comes another great joint, just steps from my home. An extensive beer list (although not as much on draft as the PH just steps away), matches well with the upscale comfort food on the menu. From cornmeal crusted fried oysters, duck confit, big burgers, fish and chips, to a nice selection of entrees and sandwiches there is something for everyone on this menu. They have about 8 picnic benches outside just in time for the warmer weather, with two bars inside for casual dining. While it has been packed since opening in late March, it is still easy to slide up to the bar and wait a couple of minutes for a table to open up.

American Craft, this looks like the beginning to a beautiful friendship.
