Chocolate and Peanut Butter Pretzels

Oh these are so good! Reaction from the crowd was hushed with eating :) It is pretty dangerous to realize how easy these are to make. Give yourself about 30 minutes and you have a great treat to share, or save for yourself.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup dark chocolate chips
1 bag pretzel rods

Directions:
Gradually melt the peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl - about 30 to 45 seconds, stirring often. You do not want the peanut butter to be runny, rather warm and slightly liquid to help spoon over the pretzel rods.

Break pretzel rods in half. Cover the broken end with peanut butter, about 1/2 way up the pretzel rod. Make sure to tap off any excess peanut butter. Place the pretzel rod on a wax paper lined baking sheet.

Repeat until you run out of pretzels. If you run out of peanut butter, just soften more until you are finished.

Freeze until peanut butter is hard.

While the pretzel rods are cold, in a double boiler (or in a glass bowl over a pot of simmering water) melt the chocolate. Do not over heat the chocolate - remove from heat just as the last of the chips have melted. If you continue heating the chocolate it could burn.

Drizzle the chocolate all around the peanut butter side of the pretzel rod - cover completely, or leave some spaces so you can see the peanut butter underneath.

Place back on a fresh wax paper lined baking sheet. Continue until all of the pretzel rods are covered.

Freeze pretzel rods. Let them come back to room temperature before serving.

Other options:
Keep the pretzel rods whole, topping just the first 1/3 of the pretzel rod with peanut butter and chocolate.
Of course, top the pretzel as you like - just with chocolate and then with sprinkles, nuts, or other candy. You could also dip the pretzels into white chocolate, or caramel.
